What's UP?

The short range Metro-Fi antennas can be seen on top of most light poles downtown. See why this $10,000,000 + roolout turned out to be a huge bust.

Establishing a wireless link requires line of sight.

In order to maintain a consistant connection to the Internet, clean, clear line of sight between the antennas is essential. This is true for point to point and point to multipoint links. Unlike their ugly cousin, non-line of sight wireless. This has been done on the largest roll out yet in Portland by Metro-Fi. While this city wide Wi-Fi effort made lots of media coverage, it's not something business today can use.
